Voter Information
Vermont Primary - Tuesday, August 9, 2022
Voter Registration: If you are not already registered in Essex, you may print and fill out this application https://outside.vermont.gov/dept/sos/Elections%20Division/voters/voterapplication.pdf and either mail the completed form to 81 Main Street or leave in drop box at town office. New Vermont residents must provide proof of residence (see instructions on form). You can also register online at https://olvr.vermont.gov/ or at the polling place for same day registration. All that is required for voter registration is your VT driver’s license number, or if you do not have a VT driver’s license, the last four digits of your social security number.
Early/Absentee Ballots: Voters must request Early/Absentee ballots in order to vote by mail. All early/absentee ballots must be returned to the clerk’s office by Monday, August 8th or delivered directly to the polling place before the close of polls on August 9th.
In-office early voting will be available after July 4th.
When voting by mail, be sure to return all ballots, voted ballot in voted ballot envelope and unvoted ballots in unused ballot envelope. This requirement is unique to the Vermont State Primary; you will receive ballots from all three parties, but may only vote in one party.
