[ARCHIVED] Winter Plowing Status - YELLOW

plow status yellow

Our area experienced an unusually heavy storm event this past weekend. Currently roads are open. With the help of the Essex Parks and Recreation Department, the Public Works crew is continuing to clear the sidewalks of any additional material after benching back the snow. Our Public Works Department spent many hours plowing over the weekend day and night and is out again today cleaning up from the storm with a 3 AM start. This will be ongoing this week.

The Public Works Department is currently down two plow truck drivers and with two new drivers still in training. Due to these factors, a “YELLOW” alert status was issued.

The Town adopted an alert system several years ago for winter seasons to inform residents what service level they can expect depending on available resources and winter storm severity. As of last week, the status has been posted as “yellow”. In this phase, only 75% of the CDL licensed crew is available and operations may be delayed 4 to 8 hours due to the unavailability of crews or the severity and duration of the storm event or a combination of both. Please read more about the alert levels on our website

The Town of Essex has a great Public Works team, and we pride ourselves on making every effort to ensure the safety of the traveling public and all its residents. We appreciate your patience as we clean up after these recent weeks of snowfall.
