AEP Session I

Registration opens 9/10 and closes Monday, September 27 at 4 pm. 

For K-5 AEP, participants will meet at a designated location at their school at dismissal where they will be greeted by EJRP staff and either walk or ride the bus to their program location. For programming at offsite locations, parents should plan to pick their child up at that location at the time listed below. 1st-5th Rec Kids students can return to Rec Kids following on-site programs.

• Masks covering both nose and mouth must be worn at all times during indoor programs.
• Students will wash/sanitize hands at beginning of the program, before and after snack, after using the restroom, and at other times deemed appropriate by our staff.
• Students will be spaced 6 feet apart as often as is possible.
• Students who can not attend school for Covid safety reasons (travel, close contact with an infected person, temperature, etc) will not be admitted to our program that day.
• Any ESP equipment used by students will be cleaned at the end of the day for each program.
• Buses used for MetroRock will be cleaned between uses.

Lego-Mania 530913 A

Everyone loves to play with Legos. Each week, an AEP staff member will present the participants with a set of challenges such as the Blind Build, Amazing Mazes, the Name Game, or Musical Monsters.

*Hiawatha students are welcome but must provide their own transportation.*

Maple Street Bike Park 530924 A

Have fun and join friends after school at Maple Street Bike Park. Bikers of all skill levels will improve their jumping, learn new tricks, and learn the basics of building and repairing dirt jumps.

*Students must bike to Maple Street Park at the end of the school day. Attendance will be taken at Maple Street. Pick up is at the program location.*

In the case of severe weather, this program cannot run.

Paint and Sip 530906 A

Do you love to paint? If so, this is the after-school program for you. Participants will be exploring various types of paint and inks during this session. Each week students will learn new painting techniques. Although each lesson will have a theme and specific project for students to do, students might choose to explore their own ideas and subjects.

Week 3: Tempera Paint
Week 4: Acrylic Paint

Tennis 530919 A

Kids on the Ball, founded by Jake Agna in 2000, is a nationally acclaimed tennis program based in Burlington, Vermont. Over the past decades, thousands of area youth have participated in the various programs learning life skills and lessons disguised as tennis.

K-2 students will receive tennis instruction from 3:30-4 pm. 3rd-5th grade students will receive tennis instruction from 4-4:30 pm. Students will have supervised playground time at Maple Street while the other age group is playing tennis.

*Students from Fleming and Summit will be walked to Maple Street Tennis Courts at dismissal.

Hiawatha students are welcome but must provide their own transportation.*

Middle School Programs

Middle School Enrichment programs for this session will meet at Maple Street Park (with the exception of Linking Engineering to Life). Students will be provided transportation to MetroRock. Students should arrange to walk home or be picked up at the conclusion of the program from the program location.

Linking Engineering to Life 540911 A

Linking Engineering to Life is an image-busting intro to engineering for 6th-8th grade girls and non-binary youth that builds confidence, creativity, and courage. Participants will meet regularly for 10 weeks to imagine and create solutions to real-life design challenges, be inspired by real women engineers, and connect with like-minded peers in a supportive, small-group setting while being mentored by UVM engineering students.

*There will be no class Wed, November 24.*
