Director, EJRP

Brad's first job ever was at Essex Junction Recreation & Parks when he was 15. He worked in the "Fun Loving Fives" program at Park Street School and he was a lifeguard. Brad never really envisioned that he would be in rec as a career. He took the role of Interim Director in 2007 and hasn't left since.

He enjoys the diversity of experience each day, working for the community, the people he works with, and all of the part-time and seasonal workers that are a part of who we are.

Brad enjoys running and playing basketball. He coaches basketball at ADL. Brad's wife, Jen, teaches Spanish at EHS. They have three children- Graham, Harper, and Lucy, and their dog Maple.

CMChristina McLaughlin

Preschool Director

Christina grew up in the Village of Essex Junction, and EJRP was a huge part of her childhood. She practically lived at Maple Street Pool for most of her middle school years. Her first job was at the Park Street School working as a counselor for the "Fun Loving Fives" program. Now, 25 years later, she is grateful to be here working with a new generation of kiddos in the same building. Early education is her passion, and EJRP has always encouraged and challenged her to become a better teacher and continually grow an inclusive, creative, engaging, and ever-evolving program for young children.

She loves that EJRP is one of the most innovative and creative organizations that she's ever been a part of: "It is never a question of "IF" we can do something for our community, but rather "HOW" can we do this?"  The team of people that work here are thoughtful in their design of programs, consistently approach others with kind hearts and open minds, and are both intentional and passionate about their work in the community.  It truly takes a village and Essex Rec understands this at its core."

Grounds & Facilities Director

Harlan first became involved with recreation through his children's sports leagues and the use of local parks. When the opportunity to work within the Parks system became available in his hometown he applied and hasn't looked back since!

He enjoys how working at Essex Junction Recreation & Parks connects him with the community the most. Harlan finds it unbelievably rewarding and fun to be part of an organization whose sole role is to make the community better to live in and help improve lives.

Harlan moved to Essex in the early '90s, raised four children, and utilized most of the recreation programs. Two of his children are starting families in Essex, while his other two call Essex home, and he expects that they and their families may live here again in their lifetime.

When he is not working he spends time on his land, grooming orchards and walking trails, as well as fishing, hunting, and relaxing. He also enjoys being involved with family and friends, racing at the local Barre race track, snowmobiling, and motorcycle riding.
