What are gift vouchers?
Out & About gift vouchers are laminated cards issued to Essex households for use at participating businesses during the event weekend of Oct. 17 & 18. Paper vouchers are not valid and should not be accepted. After the event, vendors submit the vouchers they received back to us, and we will reimburse you for the amount returned.
How many vouchers do residents receive?
Residents can receive two vouchers (one for $10 and one for $5) totaling $15. Households have a limit of $15 total. There is a limited supply. Four (4) $50 gift vouchers will be raffled and presented to winners during and after the event weekend. They are valid Oct. 17 through Oct. 25th only. If your business receives one of these special raffled gift vouchers, simply add it to your other collected gift vouchers when submitting for reimbursement.
Where do residents get vouchers?
Essex residents can bring a proof of residency (such as a driver's license, tax bill or utility bill) and pick up their vouchers at the Essex Recreation office at 75 Maple Street, Essex Junction. Hours are between 10am-2pm T-F, Oct. 13-16. Special arrangements outside of these hours can be made by calling 878-1376 or emailing email@example.com.. Booths will be set up in the Village on Friday, Oct. 16 from 2pm-5pm, and in both the Town and the Village during the weekend. More details are available on the Out & About in Essex page.
How do the online raffles work?
Four (4) special $50 gift vouchers, to be raffled as two (2) $100 prizes. (4 gift vouchers, 2 winners). These 4 $50 special gift vouchers must be spent between Oct. 17 and Oct. 25. All other gift vouchers ($5 and $10) expire Oct. 18.
- Raffle 1 is a Facebook "Like & Share" the event page to win a chance. Raffle begins Oct. 14 and winner is drawn Oct. 17. All Essex residents and visitors to Essex are eligible to win, and the gift voucher must be spent at an Out & About in Essex participating business.
- Raffle 2 is a Facebook/event/Instagram "I'm Out & About in Essex" photo posting raffle. Anyone who attends the event is eligible to participate and the gift vouchers must be spent at an Out & About in Essex participating business. Each photo posted to the Out & About Facebook page, event or Out & About Instagram #outandaboutessex showing a new purchase, dinner out, enjoying music and participating in the event receives a chance. Raffle begins Oct. 17. Winner is drawn Monday, Oct. 19.
What if a person using a voucher doesn't spend the entire amount?
You do not need to give change back for any amount not spent on merchandise/services.
Are there restrictions on what the gift vouchers can be used for? Yes, there are restrictions. Gift vouchers cannot be used to purchase alcohol or tobacco and vaping products.
What do I do with the gift vouchers after the event?
Complete the submission form (can be submitted online and/or printed) and IRS W-9 form (can be submitted online and/or printed) and bring your collected vouchers to the Essex Recreation office at 75 Maple Street, Essex Junction between the hours of 10am-2pm, M-F. Special arrangements outside of these hours can be made by calling 878-1376 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submission is October 30. Once it is determined that everything is received and your paperwork is in order, the Essex Finance Department will mail you a check for reimbursement.
COVID-19 Safety Guidelines
- While participating in Out & About in Essex, "social distancing" must be practiced and face coverings worn at all times to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19.
- Follow guidelines for events and gatherings on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
